Hollywood Couples Who Have Celebrated Anniversary Decades
Whether it is your upcoming tenth wedding anniversary, like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith or you are celebrating thirty years of togetherness without a wedding, like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, there are several Hollywood couples with whom you may share an anniversary year. Here are some others:
Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner
When it comes to long Hollywood relationships, Lily Tomlin and her wife, Jane Wagner, have one of the longest, having been together for 46 years. Tomlin and Wagner, who is also the actress’ writing partner, tied the knot on Dec. 31, 2013. Tomlin says the secret to their relationship is simply a mutual “admiration and respect.”
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
Sarah Jessica Parker has famously said that she’s radically different from Carrie Bradshaw, her iconic Sex and the City character, yet both have risk-taking personal style with Carrie once wearing a bird on her head, and SJP a flame headdress. Both also value romance and commitment in their lives. It may have taken Carrie and Big 10 years to make it down the aisle, but they finally got their happily-ever-after ending. And in real life, Parker married Matthew Broderick in 1997 after dating for 5 years. They celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in December.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
The couple celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2017 and look more in love than ever. The 60-year-old Forrest Gump actor and his wife appeared quite excited to mark their pending anniversary with Hanks announcing “We have top secret plans that are going to set the world on fire.”
Michael Caine and Shakira Caine
After a career playing an assortment of chancers and criminals, Caine has hardly gained a reputation as a romantic. Yet these actors said ‘I do’ in 1973. Caine has said he first fell in love with Shakira when he saw her in a TV commercial.
The double Oscar winner, Caine 82, married Guyanese actress Shakira Caine, 68, and said that the trick to marital bliss is having your own space, in particular your own bathroom.
Meryl Streep and Don Gummer
The pair first met after Streep’s partner John Cazale, of The Godfather and The Deer Hunter films, died of bone cancer. She was invited to move into the vacant apartment of her brother’s friend Don, who was travelling abroad, and when Don returned, she ended up staying, and they were married within six months. The couple have four children together.
When Meryl won best actress for The Iron Lady, at the 2012 Academy Awards, it was her husband who received a sweet shout-out. Streep said, “First I’m going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music, and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you have given me.”
Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens
Married in 1954, Buydens and Douglas are credited with one of the longest lasting marriages in Hollywood. In January 2017, aged 100 years, Douglas himself published his twelfth book, “Kirk and Anne: Letters of Love, Laughter, and a Lifetime in Hollywood”, a collection of letters between the couple during their marriage. The perfect anniversary gift for your beloved when you celebrate your own wedding or partnership anniversary.
